Shaftesbury (pop: 8,000) is an ancient hilltop market town in North Dorset. It is Britain’s second highest town and one of Dorset’s top tourist destinations. It is also famous as the iconic home of Gold Hill (of Hovis TV advert fame). Shaftesbury Town Council is responsible for delivering a number of services to local people in association with North Dorset District Council, the Dorset County Council and a number of voluntary organisations.

I have lived in the Shaftesbury and Gillingham area for the last yen years. I spent the first 25 years of my working life in the armed forces and then more latterly as a National Health Service senior manager and then as a mortgage and financial adviser. I now operate a web based business.

I have a degree in law, a postgraduate diploma in management studies and am a member of the Chartered Management Institute.

Councillor Lester Taylor was elected Deputy Mayor for the remainder of the 2016/17 Municipal Year by Full Council at their meeting on 24th January 2017
