Shaftesbury (pop: 8,000) is an ancient hilltop market town in North Dorset. It is Britain’s second highest town and one of Dorset’s top tourist destinations. It is also famous as the iconic home of Gold Hill (of Hovis TV advert fame). Shaftesbury Town Council is responsible for delivering a number of services to local people in association with North Dorset District Council, the Dorset County Council and a number of voluntary organisations.
