Shaftesbury (pop: 8,000) is an ancient hilltop market town in North Dorset. It is Britain’s second highest town and one of Dorset’s top tourist destinations. It is also famous as the iconic home of Gold Hill (of Hovis TV advert fame). Shaftesbury Town Council is responsible for delivering a number of services to local people in association with North Dorset District Council, the Dorset County Council and a number of voluntary organisations.

Piers Brown

Shaftesbury West Councillor

I have lived in and around Shaftesbury since childhood and feel lucky to have done so. I have started a business based in the town which is now entering it’s second year. Growing up in Shaftesbury I know the issues that face the younger generations living in the town.

Piers was elected Vice Chairman and Deputy Mayor for the municipal year 2017/18 at the Annual Meeting of the Council on 23rd May 2017.
